Extended Producer Responsibility is a practice and a policy approach in which Producers/Manufacturers/Brand Owners who use Plastic Packaging take responsibility for management & facilitation of the disposal of products they manufacture/produce once the product is designated as no longer useful by consumers.

Who is it for?

  • Plastic Manufacturing Companies: Companies dealing with the manufacture and supply of Plastics to their vendors.
  • Brand Owners: Brands that use Plastic and MLP for food packaging and supply

Registration and Implementation of EPR

  • As per the Plastic Waste Management rules-2016, All Companies using/manufacturing plastic packaging must get themselves registered from the Pollution Control Board as a Producer / Manufacturer / Brand Owner.
  • Companies should submit a detailed action plan for every state of operation to the Pollution Control Board.
  • Companies operating in less than 2 states should register with SPCB (State Pollution Control Board) and those operating in more than 2 should register with CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board).
  • All such data should be submitted to CPCB and maintained for quarterly filings. Companies failing to comply with the EPR guidelines can lose their CTO (Consent to Operate) in their respective regions.
  • The action plan should describe - the quantities of Plastic Waste Generated, manner of collection & details of the collection agency with all the supporting documents.
  • The collection agency should manage Collection/ Transportation/ Recycling/ disposal of the amount of waste generated in the particular region and the proof of which, with necessary documents, are required to be submitted to the PCB.

  • Our efficient data monitoring systems aids in data collection and analysis for preparing detailed reports indicating disposal of waste for our client.
